Theo Leoni has extended his contract at RSC Anderlecht. He signed a contract that ties him to the club until June 2024, with two more years as an option. The 21-year old midfielder has played for Anderlecht since 2012 and is captain of the U21 team.
Theo is a product of the 2000 generation. He is a versatile midfielder who can play in all positions in the middle. Theo has not yet made any minutes in the first team, but the young midfielder is confident of his qualities and is patiently waiting for his chance. "Better late than never," says Theo. "They taught me that you have to be patient in life, that you don't always get what you want right away, when you want it. Patience is a virtue. I grew up with that idea."
"Theo is a true Neerpede-ket. Since he joined the club at the age of 12, he has made steady progress. Slowly but surely, and with the necessary patience," says Jean Kindermans, director of the RSCA Belfius Academy. "He is the type of player the Anderlecht fans love: technical, generous and he plays without fear," he concludes.
Since last season, Theo has been training with the first team under the guidance of Vincent Kompany. Peter Verbeke has been following the midfielder's development for a long time: "Theo Leoni is a very important player for the club's project. We are counting on him becoming a leader in 1B next year and to knock on the door of the first team."
Both in the short and long term, Theo has an important role to play. His goals for 2022? "I have two. To qualify for 1B with the U21’s, and to make my debut with the first team."
Congratulations, Theo.
