First professional contract for Ilay Camara

Ilay Camara has signed his first professional contract. The 20-year-old player signed with Sporting until 2025. Ilay played 17 games for our RSCA Futures this season and delivered 5 assists.

Ilay was born in Bonheiden, near Mechelen, in 2003. He enjoyed his formation at OH Leuven, before making the switch to the U18 side of the RSCA Belfius Academy in the summer of 2019. In 2021, Ilay joined RSCA's U23 squad.

Ilay managed to develop himself as a very versatile player. He can play at right-back, as a winger and as a central defender. He stands out with his speed, dribbling skills and fighting spirit. Ilay is a regular starter for our RSCA Futures this season. In the match against Virton in January, he delivered a remarkable performance by delivering 3 assists in one game.

Jean Kindermans, Head of the RSCA Belfius Academy:

"Despite the difficult covid-period following his arrival in 2019, Ilay has adapted and developed well since his arrival in 2019. He put in some fine performances this season with our RSCA Futures. Despite interest from other clubs, Ilay has decided to continue his development at RSCA and we are obviously very pleased with that."

CEO Sports Jesper Fredberg:

“I’m very happy with Ilay signing his first contract at the club. Ilay has shown great progress and has performed well with our RSCA Futures in the Challenger Pro League this season. He’s a technical player, a good runner and always plays with a lot of intensity. We’re looking forward to seeing him at work in the Promotion Play-offs this season and we’ll keep pushing him to continue his development.

Congratulations, Ilay.
