Tim Borguet to become Chief Academy of RSC Anderlecht

Tim Borguet

RSC Anderlecht's youth academy will be led by Tim Borguet in the coming years. Borguet was a driving force of Anderlecht’s commercial revival as Marketing Director in recent years. He will take over the role of Chief Academy from Mikkel Hemmersam, who has decided to leave the club. The sporting structure of the Academy will otherwise remain intact.

Last season, Mikkel Hemmersam (46) joined RSC Anderlecht to restructure the youth academy. Neerpede saw a new sporting management take the reins, with the appointments of Football Director Henk Mariman and Talent Director Peter Verbeke, amongst others. Under Hemmersam’s reign, steps were also taken operationally and the technical staff of our youth teams was fine-tuned. As a result, no fewer than 18 talents have signed their first professional contract since the beginning of 2024.

With the Academy now ready for the future, Mikkel Hemmersam has decided to leave the club. After thoughtful consideration, Mikkel has indicated that he wishes to pursue a career at a senior level for a first team and will therefore be looking for a new challenge. RSC Anderlecht is very grateful to Mikkel for his work and wants to give him the chance to pursue his ambitions. The Dane will leave the club on the 1st of October.

Tim Borguet becomes Chief Academy

Tim Borguet (35) will lead RSC Anderlecht's youth academy as Chief Academy as from 1st of December. Borguet is a familiar face at Neerpede. In June 2020, Tim - born and raised in Anderlecht - was appointed as the club's Marketing Director. In that role, he was a driving force of the club's commercial revival in the past seasons.

Borguet transformed the club into a strong media brand with an identity that appeals to and connects more and more supporters with what Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht stands for. As Marketing Director, Borguet and his team are, among other things, driving the matchday experience in and around the Park, merchandise, memberships and the strategy behind RSCA's media productions and platforms.

As Chief Academy, Tim Borguet will now assume strategic leadership of the youth academy and further shape Neerpede's business model. The sports management of the Academy, including Football Director Henk Mariman and Talent Director Peter Verbeke, will remain intact.

Tim Borguet - Chief Academy

"My love for our youth academy is at the very core of my passion for RSC Anderlecht. Our youth academy is the heart of this club and what sets us apart from others. Neerpede is the best environment for Belgian top talents, on and off the pitch. We want to strengthen that unique position and thus strive for even more continuity in the pathway and impact of home-grown talent. With a strong and complementary team at the Academy, we want to further shape that strategy and realize our shared ambitions.”

Mikkel Hemmersam:

“Coming to Anderlecht, a club with a strong history and a clear identity, was an easy choice for me. After some months at the club, the management asked me to lead and implement the new direction of the Academy. In the past year, we installed a management team with the competencies to lead a modern Academy and a culture marked by positivism and an open mindset. I am proud that we have managed to achieve a lot of our goals, including signing our most talented players on long-term contracts. I am confident that the Academy is ready for the future and that the fans can expect to see exciting young talents emerging in the next few years."

"For me, I have decided to resign at Anderlecht as I want to pursue my ambitions to become a sporting director or be involved at a senior level for a first team. It has not been an easy decision, but it has always been important for me to pursue my dreams.I leave Anderlecht with pride and respect, as the club has and will always be an inspiration to me. I wish everyone at the club the best for the future.”
