Talent runs in the family. Joakim Lavia has signed his first professional contract with RSC Anderlecht. The contract ties him to the club until June 2027. The midfielder becomes the 7th player from the talented 2009 generation to go pro with Sporting.
Within the Lavia household, football is a tradition. Joakim’s big brother is none other than Roméo, who is also Made in Neerpede and now stars for Chelsea. Joakim joined his big brother Romeo at Neerpede back in 2016, when he was just 7 years old. The youngest Lavia has never played for another club. He did all his academy years at Neerpede, from the U6s to the U16s.
It is as an attacking midfielder that Joakim stands out. His versatility, technique and mentality have made him a trusted player with the coaches he has worked with. This season, he will be playing with the U16s, under head coach Yannick Kindermans. His main goal with the Mauves? Make his debut with the first team in the Lotto Park.
Academy Director Mikkel Hemmersam: ‘Joakim is very versatile, capable of playing multiple positions on the pitch. He combines speed with good technique. He’s also a decisive player who can both score and give assists. Joakim has faced difficult times with injuries, but he’s shown a lot of character to come back. We’re delighted that he has committed his future to RSCA.’
Congratulations, Joakim.
