Nunzio Engwanda has extended his contract with RSC Anderlecht. The 16-year-old defender has signed a new deal running until June 2027.
Nunzio won't forget the 2023/24 season any time soon. The ket from Neerpede made his professional debut in the Challenger Pro League at just 15 years of age, sharing the pitch with his older brother Alonzo. Later on during the season, he also got his first selection with the first team against KAA Gent.
Despite his young age, Nunzio has quickly established himself as a key player of the RSCA Futures. His confidence on the ball, his positioning and his passing have impressed the spectators of Belgium's second division. His standout moment was the excellent game he played away at Beerschot, while most of the U23s were away on training camp in Tunisia.
Nunzio, who has been at Neerpede since he was 6, is currently going through pre-season in the first team environment. He took part in the three friendlies played by the Mauves (Tubize-Braine, Dender and PSV), and is currently with the senior team in Portugal for the summer camp.
Academy Director Mikkel Hemmersam: ‘Nunzio is one of our homegrown players who has been at Neerpede for many years. He’s very intelligent and composed on the ball. He’s also a versatile player that can play multiple positions. Nunzio is definitely a very interesting talent. We are delighted that he is extending his stay at the club.'
Congratulations, Nunzio.
