Thomas Vervloet has signed his first professional contract with Les Mauves. The talented captain of the U16s has joined Sporting until June 2027. He is the 7th player to sign a first professional contract with RSC Anderlecht since the beginning of May.
Born in Antwerp, Thomas moved to Neerpede when he was just 8. He first started playing with the U8s. He quickly impressed with his technical ability, physique and versatility. Despite being a year younger, Thomas captained the U16s this season under the guidance of coach Yannick Kindermans.
Thomas is a gifted defensive midfielder. He can also help out in the back line, either in central defence or as a right back.
Academy Director Mikkel Hemmersam: 'Thomas is a player who is really strong on the ball. He is smart defensively and has great positioning. He also shows good character on the pitch and has a strong desire to learn. We believe he has a bright future ahead of him.'
